Small Facts about Me
I’ve been teaching for over 6 years and doing public speaking for more than 8. For the past 4 years, I’ve focused fully on teaching online through Preply, helping students across the globe every single day.
hold multiple certifications and credentials, including high-level TEFL and TOEFL certificates, as well as a Bachelor of Doctrines and Methodology of Education Diploma—all of which support my professional and practical teaching approach.
Since joining Preply in 2021, I’ve received over 100 five-star reviews, taught students as early as 3 a.m., and proudly earned recognition such as Professional Tutor and Super Tutor.
I’ve spent more than a year developing this course—personally writing, recording, and refining every part. It includes everything I’ve learned from thousands of lessons over the past six years.
My biggest goal is to help more students through this course than I ever could through one-on-one lessons. I want to make IELTS and TOEFL success more accessible, no matter where you live or what your schedule looks like.
I’m a native English speaker who grew up in South Africa, raised by my grandmother who was from London. Her love for books, structure, and clear communication deeply influenced how I teach today.
My Journey to Becoming a
Teacher Who Cares
My teaching journey began long before Preply, back in high school, when I became friends with international students who were still learning English. I never saw it as teaching at the time, it just felt like a fun and natural way to connect and support my friends. Looking back now, that simple act of helping others was the spark that ignited what would become a truly unexpected and passionate career.
Even before that, I was drawn to public speaking. Whether it was at school events, debate clubs, or church gatherings, I found myself stepping up to speak—even when I was nervous. Over time, this helped me develop not just confidence, but also clear and coherent communication, which would later become one of my biggest strengths as a teacher.
I grew up in South Africa with my grandmother, who was born in England. From her, I learned to speak in a neutral and clear manner, adjusting my pace and tone depending on who I was speaking to. That ability to make English understandable to all kinds of learners became something I carried with me into every teaching session.
After school, I continued helping international students locally through a company called TeachMe2. But when the pandemic hit in 2020, in-person teaching came to a halt. That’s when I turned to online education and started teaching on Preply. At first, it was just a side hustle—but it quickly became something much more.
As I connected with students from all across the world (Asia, South America, the Middle East, Europe) I realized how much I loved it. Not only was I helping students reach their goals for university admissions, immigration, or professional careers, but I was also learning from them. I discovered new cultures, built meaningful connections, and even made lasting friendships.
That’s when I knew this was no longer a part-time thing. I went all in. I committed myself to IELTS and TOEFL preparation, two of the most important and stressful exams students around the world face. And now, I’ve reached a point where I want to help even more students—not just one-on-one, but through something bigger. That’s why I spent months developing this course.
I created it to give students a clear path forward—a way to take control of their studies, build real confidence, and finally get the results they deserve. This isn’t just about passing a test. It’s about building a future.
And I couldn’t be more excited to be part of yours.
